UNCLAIMED PROPERTY NOTICE
Dear Portage County Residents,
I have been working together with your Wisconsin State Treasurer to reunite many Portage County residents with their lost assets and unclaimed property. Unclaimed property consists of financial assets that have had no activity for 5 years or more. This includes savings accounts, checking accounts, uncashed dividends, stock, customer deposits or overpayments, uncashed paychecks, life insurance policies, etc. According to Wisconsin State Statutes, financial institutions must turn these unclaimed funds over to the Wisconsin State Treasurer's office.
Please check the Wisconsin State Treasurer's website:
to see if you are on this Unclaimed Property list. If you find that your name is on this list, click on the 'Property #' that appears after your name. This will bring you to an 'Unclaimed Property Online Claim Form.' Upon receipt of this form, the State Treasurer's office will send you a claim form to fill out and return. If you prefer not to use this online service, you are also free to call their office at 877/699-9211 for assistance.
